High School Student Orientation September 2025

2025-09-01

1st September 2025

We kicked off the academic year with an Orientation programme to welcome the students and parents on their very first day. With a programme specially designed to aid students in their transition into a new school and country, the day was filled with informative sessions, engaging activities, and offered comfort and clarity to parents entrusting their children to us as they embark on this new academic journey.

The morning began with a catered breakfast for everyone to enjoy as students and parents adjusted to the new environment. Parents were given the opportunity to engage with faculty and staff to clarify any worries they had.

The Orientation formally began with an inspiring address by the principal as he touched upon the importance of academic growth, character development, personal goals, and the core values that guide our school community. Following the principal’s address was a detailed rundown of the school’s rules, regulations, and expectations.

An important part of the morning was a scam prevention talk conducted by officers from the Singapore Police Force (SPF). Students learned how to identify and protect themselves from common scams, especially important because international students are prime targets for scammers.

Additionally, students were educated on basic Singapore laws they are expected to abide by during their stay, emphasising the importance of being responsible and law-abiding residents in a foreign country.

The session concluded with a fun and interactive Kahoot quiz, where the top three scorers were awarded special prizes by the SPF officers.

While students were engaged during the Orientation programme, parents attended a briefing covering the curriculum, academic structure, and student support services. Recognising the emotional and logistical challenges of sending a child to study in a foreign country, the school leadership took time to assure parents of their children’s wellbeing, safety, and holistic development while in our care.

After a catered lunch, students engaged in several icebreaking activities designed to encourage teamwork and communication. These activities encouraged students to speak in English, helping them practice conversational skills, accustoming them to a multi-cultural environment, and preparing them for lessons primarily conducted in English.

The day concluded with a group photo to commemorate the students’ first day with BCI. It marked the start of their academic journey with us as well as the foundation of a global community.

Here’s to a great start!
